Booster Juice opens 200th Store (Summary)

Booster Juice has welcomed their new store which makes it number 200 for the franchise, and this is an accomplishment considering how the company was established in 1999 (Clayton, 2009). This addition makes it the biggest franchise based out of Western Canada and Booster Juice hopes to have about 400 to 450 stores in Canada (Clayton, 2009). As well, Booster Juice has announced its new charitable organization called the Booster Juice Fit Kids which will focus on child obesity and awareness around that issue (Clayton, 2009). Dale Wishewan wants to control the issue and obesity towards the foundation (Clayton, 2009). His solution was to evolve into providing lunch programs for schools, education information on healthy living and eating (Clayton, 2009). Dale said that Booster Juice will be using Dr. Mark Tremblay (chief scientific officer for Active Healthy Kids Canada), as a resource in deciding where the funds from Booster Juice Fit Kids should go towards (Clayton, 2009).

My Opinion
The 200th store that Booster juice opened up is definitely a great achievement considering the amount of time they have been in business. To top off all their success, Booster Juice has created their own charitable organization, Booster Juice Fits Kids. Booster Juice is committed to social responsibility and taking an active role in the communities they live in. In fact, Booster Juice was founded on the principals of family which is why they are taking an active role in getting involved with causes they believe in, especially those involving their most important asset: children. By creating this charitable organization, it will help build Booster Juice’s reputation amongst the business world and in the eye of the consumers. This gesture also implicates that Booster Juice is not just doing business for profit; they are also a good corporate citizen. On their website, they said that any charity or organization can contact them so that they can help to raise money for the less fortunate.
Do you think that Booster Juice is doing enough on their part to contribute to society? What other initiatives can Booster juice take in giving back to the communities it lives in?
